Questions
All 96 chapters of Sri Lanka's import tariff (7,254 priced lines), General rates only, from the National Imports Tariff Guide 2026. Preferential FTA rates are not priced — the tool always uses the General column.
Three reasons: the line is quarantined (its guide row could not be read into columns with confidence, so we refuse to guess); the line is SCL-marked but the SCL rate is not in our data; or the line is import-banned (licence mark B). In each case the tool says so plainly instead of showing a made-up number.
Where the guide prints two rates joined by “or” (for example 20% or Rs. 100 per kg), the amount payable is whichever gives the higher amount — that is the guide's own rule (Preamble, paras 14 and 23), not our interpretation.
SCL (Social Security Contribution Levy, marked * in the guide) is a composite levy: where it applies, ONLY the SCL amount is payable, in place of customs duty, VAT, PAL, cess and excise. So the tool never adds SCL on top of the other levies — it shows the SCL total alone, with the General levies as reference.
No. It is an estimate computed from the published guide. Classification disputes, valuation rulings, exemptions and licences can change the final assessment. Confirm with Customs or a licensed broker before ordering.
